You Can Advance the Science of Lung Cancer (January 2019 – Press Release)

The Lung Cancer Registry launched its first research study in The Registry - we need more participants! We are recruiting patients with non-small cell lung cancer who are on immunotherapy treatment. The goal is to help doctors better understand and educate patients with non-small cell lung cancer about side-effects when undergoing immunotherapy treatment.

Thank you for your participation in the Lung Cancer Registry! We are pleased to share:

  • 623 participants have completed the baseline survey, ages ranging from 24 - 93 years

  • 24.7 percent of respondents are male, 75.3 percent of respondents are female

  • Participants live in 24 countries

  • Diagnosis includes more than five types of lung cancer

  • Participants are undergoing at least seven types of treatment

We are not the only ones excited by the impact of patient involvement in research! Take a look at these recent articles on immunotherapy research and expert patients:

  • The Wall Street Journal ran a story on the importance of engaging patients in research studies. Scientists say it is crucial to make long-term connections with study participants if they want to receive the data they need.

  • A recently published article in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Connection Blog by patient advocate, Carole Seigel, "Immune-Mediated Side Effects: Patient Advocates Can Raise Awareness", supports the importance of this research.
